What is a miracle?
According to the Oxford dictionary, an extraordinary and welcome event that is not applicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore attributed to a divine agency.
In simple words, a wonderful event that seems impossible and that is believed to be caused by God.
For us it could be finding our lost love, surviving from a brutal disease, escaping from an accident or coming across any extraordinary incident.
Sometimes any impossible or unpredictable thing occurs or any rare thing happens and we call them miracles but have you ever noticed that miracles happen in our day to day life. So many things happen around us just beyond our imagination but we are so engrossed in our daily life that we hardly notice.
Just sit at a quiet place, open your eyes and mind calmly, leaving all your daily stress and anxiety. Visualise and observe each and every bit of nature provided to us.
“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air as a miracle but I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or anything but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognise blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black curious eyes of a child, our own two eyes. All is a miracle “
-Thich Nhat Hanh
Here are miracles to experience:
You are alive
Life is so unpredictable, any mishappening can occur. You can’t say what future holds for you. Which mishap awaits you the next moment.
You retire to bed at night and wake up with a new day, isn’t it a miracle.
You leave your house and at last you safely return to your home. Isn’t this a miracle!
Weather and season changes
We mainly have four seasons – spring, summer, fall(autumn), and winter.
After winter is over, we know spring will come. Then the weather will get hot in the summer. Then there will be autumn which again turns into winter, and thus the cycle will start all over again.
This is not less than a miracle that the cycle keeps going.
Body parts functioning
Your heart beats, your skin damages and regenerates, your heart pumps blood throughout your body.
Your Kidneys are functioning properly, digestive systems are working.
Isn’t it a miracle, what your body is doing continuously.
Giving birth to a child is a miracle in itself. Keeping a tiny human in your womb for 9 months is a miracle. Our body is doing exactly what it is meant to do, in fact the whole process of conception is a miracle.
Now we all know about the solar system.
The Sun together with the eight planets, their moons, and all other bodies that orbit it, is known as the solar system.
Isn’t this flawless system a miracle.
The sun, centre of the solar system rises and sets in the same fixed directions, spins on its axis and every 24 hours we get a new day.
Have you ever wondered, how the moon keeps changing its shape?
If you observe the Moon night by night, you will see its appearance changes. In the next 14-15 days it is almost invisible. After 29 days, it will have gained its original look until the full Moon, then it will start to cover again the same phases that have been described.
Moreover, you see the same moon wherever you go.
We have great inventions which we use in our daily life. They have made our life so easy and fast. You can speak through a small device anywhere on earth, receive information from anywhere in the world just sitting on your couch.
You can travel in any part of the world in just few hours.
Apart from all these you can make friends through social medias, connect with millions of people in a blink of an eye, share your life, culture, traditions, dreams and thoughts with one another.
Aren’t these miracles happening in our everyday life?
Just open your eyes and minds to appreciate them.
Express gratitude for all of these miracles in our lives and thanks to the Almighty for these blessings.
